J.Q Rose does it again. I enjoyed this Inspirational mystery about Pastor Christine Hobbs. Who would have thought a Pastor could be a suspect in a murder. Add a pot-belly pig and a kangaroo into the mix and... well let's just say strange things happen. Roseanne Dowell

I loved this book. In fact I love J.Q. Rose's writing. This mystery is funny, edgy, page turning and well-worth reading. The book is well-written, the characters are well-developed and the story will keep you turning those pages - while at the same time giving you some good laughs. I'm a mystery lover, but because I'm a publisher won't allow me to review as a reader, but I'm delighted to share my thoughts on one of the best pure fun, clean mysteries I've read in a long time. Dangerous Sanctuary edition by JQ Rose Romance eBooks

In J.Q. Rose's Dangerous Sanctuary (Books We Love Ltd 2016), 32-year-old Christine, Pastor of a small, neighborly church, is stunned when her congregation's beloved music director, William White, is murdered. When the handsome detective, Cole Stephens, who is investigating the crime suspects her because she has means, opportunity, and argued with William over music, she does two things: 1) she trusts God to secure her innocence, and 2) she works with the detective to find the real killer. Along the way, she becomes attracted to the sexy, hunky Detective Stephens but she’s still recovering from a broken marriage that also broke her faith in men. As Christine amateur detectives her way through searching for the real murderer, we get a peek into the life of a small-church minister as she prays with her congregation, plans church activities, arrange youth projects, and everything else that her members require no matter the time of day, her schedule, or her energy level.

"She could mingle with her congregation at the supper held in the basement of the church. It was an evening of good food, Bible studies, choir practices, and fellowship"

What really makes this book stand out is that Christine keeps her trust in God front and center with everything she does, humbly asking for his help and trusting that he will do just that:

"Lord, I have so much to do. I cannot allow a distraction like Cole Stephens into my life. Help me to focus on the work of the church, Your work. My heart isn’t healed enough to give it away again to another man.”

Highly recommended for lovers of cozy or Christian fiction or even those who simply like a feel-good story that includes romance.

Dangerous Sanctuary edition by JQ Rose Romance eBooks Reviews

Dangerous Sanctuary is quick-paced romantic murder mystery. I grew fond of Pastor Christine Hobbs as she struggled to put her life back together after a rough divorce. She really didn't need the added upset of a murder in her new church, and she really didn't need to be one of the accused. But that's what she got and I admired her pluck in trying to solve the murder and keep her church in tact.

I couldn't guess whodunit, so that kept me reading to the end. I laughed at some of the animal encounters, and as odd as they were, the author integrated them well into the story, so they belonged and made for some of the lighter moments.

The romance was a little to quick, the detective a little too perfect and hunky for my taste. I would have liked the relationship to be something possible after the end of the story, but that's a personal choice. Readers who like happy endings will enjoy this book.
A church is not a place I would expect to be the scene or criminal action -- but why not? After all, congregations are made up of people, with all their strengths and failings, including greed, that worst of sins. And the pastor is not a person I would consider either a likely suspect, or a likely object of romance.
This is what happens to Christine Hobbs, five years a minister of religion, divorced two years ago when her husband ran off with another woman, nine months the loving, loved leader of the church in a little town.
This is the theme of “Dangerous Sanctuary.” There is a murder, and Detective Stephens considers Christine as one of the “people of interest.” Intrigue thickens as new characters are introduced, and there is attraction as well as hostility between parson and detective.
The sometimes bizarre humor is the best part of this story. This is how it starts, with Christine extracting an orphaned cat from under a bed. That scene certainly made me want to read on. Later, the cat is joined, improbably, by a pig and a kangaroo (well, wallaby).
So, this is an entertaining read, with a few little lessons of forgiveness and trust in God in there, without any preachiness.
I did find the romantic component a little too formulaic and predictable, but am aware that millions of books with the self-same formula are enjoyed by their target audience, which is not me, so I need to be tolerant there.
this book is one that shows how the murder of a church member can bring the congregation together and how the church minister remains strong in her belives.
This is a book that was obviously written by an animal lover and will appeal to the animal lover in all of us.
It's a fun whodunit with a surprise ending. I didn't figure it out.
This is a good book for both Cosy Mystery Readers, and Christian Fiction Readers.
Grab your cat and coffee or tea and enjoy the read.
I began thinking that I would like this mystery very much, since the introductory paragraphs (in which the young pastor is attempting to corner a reluctant cat) were very humorous and realistic. I immediately liked the young protagonist. But after just a short while I realized the novel was recycling that same, tired old plot device of the hunky police detective--who in this case was so mean and rude as to be a caricature--and I quickly lost interest. I also found it unrealistic that the police would not immediately dismiss the murder as the accident it had appeared to be; that seemed unlikely, given the workload of most police departments. It was well into the story before I was clear on exactly why they did not believe this murder to be merely a sad accident. The book was well-written and well-edited, nevertheless, and the Christian mystery theme was presented without preachiness. In the end, though, despite the books fine points, I grew bored.
