Anytime you see Gappy heading out on a trip there is going to be an adventure. The question is will he be able to get himself out of it in one piece. Star Donovan provides us the next story with Gappy in the Young Vampire Adventures titled "Gappy's Great Escape. This time he and Pru get to travel to Wales and meet up with Llewellyn and Jacquelina in their home town. For a place that was supposed to be quaint and quiet the children provide us the adventure of ups and downs. He violin player they meet is an unexpected surprise and written well for children.It is the inquisitive minds of the young and with friends you know they follow each other there is excitement to boot. Gappy and Llewellyn are vampires and are learning more skills as they grow. Jacquelina and Pru are humans otherwise known as "regs". My grandson and nieces look forward to the books each time a new one comes out. They are fun to read and the pictures are cute to look at plus they help to see what the characters look like throughout the story. The books make great gifts and help enhance the younger ones reading skills. Whether you have the other books or not this is a good story and I loved it!

Gappy's Great Escape is going to be an adventure classic for juvenile fiction readers. Vampire stories can be too graphic and intense for some children, but the Gappy's Adventures books are family fun. In this book, 11-year-old vampire Gappy goes on a trip to the UK to visit relatives. There he finds pleasure, excitement, and a wicked plot afoot. Gappy must use his newest learned vampire skill to help himself, his friends and a whole slew of innocent captives escape from a dangerous situation. The book is charming, adventurous, compelling and most of all, it is a good read for young people. I highly recommend it for the preteen crowd.
Right away, in book 5 of the series, Gappy is thrown into an adventure while visiting the United Kingdom. Gappy even promised his parents he would stay away from any exciting adventures but he just cannot help himself!
I have been reading every one of the Gappy series of books and it is fun to see this vampire get better and better with his new powers. One of my favorite parts is when he and Pru fly together. His cousins are next to them flying around as well. I also enjoyed how Gappy helped Pru trick some bad guys into thinking she was a vampire. If Gappy would not have been able to trick the bad guys he and Pru would've been locked up and separated from each other.
I highly recommend this book for older kids, teens and adults. I am looking forward to reading book 6 of the Gappy series!
A great addition to the Gappy series. This book finds Gappy on vacation and of course, involved in another adventure. Gappy's Great Escape is an excellent installment in the Gappy series. Gappy and Pru are off to visit his cousins for a peaceful visit. But as always where Gappy is concerned, they ultimately find themselves engulfed in another adventure, even after Gappy promises his mother that he will not get involved in anything while visiting, he just can't help it. Adventure is drawn to wherever Gappy seems to be.
Anyone who has been reading the Gappy series will find that this is an excellent addition to the series. The characters are still as lovable as ever, and as Gappy discovers his talents growing at a faster pace than that of his cousin Llew, it seems that they always develop just as he is going to be needing them. This is a great book that any child and adult will enjoy reading. Star Donovan has done it again and written another great Gappy novel.
