What can I say, beggars can't be choosers I guess. This is a tiny little book (25 pages) full of sparse descriptions and fuzzy maps (I mean that literally, these are low quality blow ups from a web resolution map of some sort). And don't try and purchase the PDF version from the publisher's website either. You won't get it and they don't respond to emails. But, it is the only Kauai surf map out there so it's way better than nothing. Just wish a little more pride and care had been put into this.Product details

Blue Planet Surf Maps has come up with a short yet extremely useful surf map for kauai hawaii. There's four full color maps, brief descriptions of the surf spots around the island, and some access information and recommendations. It's exactly what you need to find the right waves for yourself when on kauai. Highly recommended.
The maps in this guide are so cramped and low-quality that it's nearly impossible to tell exactly where the spots are. There are very few directions for how to find the breaks or even descriptions of the lineups. Basically this reads like it was written by a surfer - just any information they felt like throwing in about each break without any rhyme or reason and no system for looking up breaks by characteristics. I have attempted to email the company to let them know about my dissatisfaction, but they have never responded.
Good if you want the names of local breaks to reference when you surf in Kauai (maybe on the more protective northshore it's worth the purchase) but if you're surfing the South side of Kauai, the breaks are well known and people in surf shops are friendly enough if you're respectful and have some questions on what spots work on what tide.
